Terms of Service
These terms cover the use of byhuman.io, the claims published on it and the badge.
Self-declared claims
All claims published on byhuman.io are self-declared by the website owner. ByHuman does not audit or verify them and makes no statement about their truth. The review before publication checks the entry (a real domain, no spam or abuse), not the claim itself.
Liability
ByHuman is not liable for the content of websites that carry a badge or hold a profile, nor for any damage arising from reliance on a published claim. Profiles link to external websites we do not control, and we cannot guarantee that the service is available without interruption.
Your account
One account, identified by your email address, may hold any number of websites. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for everything published under your account. A domain can be claimed once; once a website is added, its domain cannot be changed.
What is not allowed
Claiming a domain you do not control, making false claims, and using a profile for spam or abuse are not allowed. Descriptions must be plain text about how the website was made.
The badge
You may place the badge on the website it was issued for, unaltered: do not edit the path data and do not present the badge as a verification, certification or approval. A pasted snippet is static markup, so it keeps rendering after a website is deleted or suspended. Only its profile link stops resolving.
Suspension and removal
ByHuman may suspend or remove any website at any time, whether or not it was paid for, without stating a reason. If this happens to your website and you want to resolve it, use the contact form. Removal for a breach (claiming a domain you do not control, false claims, spam or abuse) is not refunded. Removal for any other reason is refunded in full.
Takedown
If a profile concerns your domain and you did not create it, or a claim is false, use the report button on the profile or the contact form. Reports are reviewed by hand; the rightful owner of a domain is never locked out by someone else’s entry.
What you are buying
Adding a website costs $10.00, a one-time payment per website. It buys a public profile page for that domain and access to the badge for it. There is no subscription and no renewal: access does not expire and nothing is checked again after checkout. The payment is tied to that one domain and is not transferable. Deleting the website does not refund it and does not move it to another domain.
Right of withdrawal
This is a digital service that starts immediately. At checkout you explicitly agree to immediate delivery and confirm that you thereby waive your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Without that confirmation the payment cannot be completed.
Changes
These terms may change. The version on this page at the time you add a website is the one that applies to it.
