Answers to the most common questions about claims, the badge and your account.
The claims
No. Claims on byhuman.io are self-declared by the website owner. We do not audit or verify them. The badge says what the owner declares, and the profile page states this plainly.
Human design: the visual design and layout were made by a human. Human coding: the HTML, CSS, JavaScript and backend were written by a human. Human content: the texts, images and copy were created by a human. You can declare any combination, as long as at least one is ticked.
Roughly 90% of the work should be yours. A spell checker, stock photos, a code formatter, an editor that completes a line or an upscaled image do not break a claim; having AI generate the design, write the code or produce the copy does. Ask yourself: if the tool's contribution were removed, would the work essentially still exist? If yes, claim it; if not, leave that claim off.
Every new entry is reviewed by hand before its profile goes live. The review checks the entry (a real domain, no spam or abuse), not the truth of the claim.
Every profile for a website someone added has a report button. Anyone can report a claim without an account, and reported websites are reviewed by hand.
The badge
It is a piece of inline SVG you paste into your own HTML. Nothing is loaded from byhuman.io when it renders, so it adds zero requests and works on any website, CMS or theme.
No. The badge never carries the claims. Your profile page does. Changing your claims never requires replacing the snippet, but changing the badge style does.
Most websites put it in the footer, a colophon or an about page. It links to your public profile so visitors can see exactly what you declare.
Yes. The snippet is available immediately after you add your website. While the review is running your profile shows a page saying the claim is awaiting review.
A pasted snippet is static markup, so it keeps rendering whatever happens here. If the website is deleted or suspended, its profile link simply stops resolving.
Account and domains
Open your website under Websites, tick or untick the claims and save. Changing your claims needs no review. The same page deletes the website altogether.
Only when you change the display name or the description, because that is the text visitors read on your profile. The profile then goes back to awaiting review until it is checked again. Your badge snippet keeps working meanwhile. Changing your claims or the scheme or www. of your address needs no new review.
No, the domain is permanent. Another website is a new entry. A typo can be corrected by an admin on request through the contact form.
A plain website address without subdomain or path: https://example.com works, https://blog.example.com or https://example.com/portfolio do not.
As many as you like. There is no limit per account.
The profile and badge endpoint are removed and the domain becomes claimable again. Payments for a deleted website are not refunded and not transferable.
